It is our goal to provide a healthy, safe, and secure environment for all camp participants. Children who attend the program are expected to follow the behavior guidelines and to interact appropriately in a group setting.
Our behavior guidelines are as follows:
- All participants will treat mentors, the environment, and their fellow participants with respect.
- Participants will follow any posted rules.
- All mentors and participants will promote a positive attitude for a fun experience.
When a participant does not follow the behavior guidelines, we will take the following steps:
- Mentors will redirect the participant to more appropriate behavior.
- The participant will be reminded of the behavior guidelines and rules, and a discussion will take place.
- If the behavior persists, the parent will be notified of the problem.
- The mentor will document the situation. This written documentation will include what the behavior problem is, what provoked the problem, and the corrective action taken.
- Mentor may schedule a conference with the parent to determine the appropriate action that will be taken.
- Mentor may schedule a progress check or a follow-up conference.
- If the problems still persist, mentor will schedule a conference that includes the parent, participant, mentor, counselor and program director. The program director will have all documentation and the notes from the previous conferences for review.
- If a participant’s behavior at any time threatens the immediate safety of that child, other children, or mentor the parent may be notified and the registration will be called. Parents are expected to pick up the participant immediately.
No parents or guests will be allowed on campus. If a participant will be picked up by someone other than the parent, please inform our coordinators.
Parents are responsible filling out the health information part of the registration form and providing information about any recent treatment their child has had or medication taken. Parents should hand any medication to UAA Clinic in person before the program starts. In case of illness and emergency, parents will be contacted immediately via phone.
